Mariote Ngwaru is due to deliver a keynote presentation on the project at the annual meeting of the Language in Africa SIG of the British Association for Applied Linguistics at the University of Bristol, 21–22 May 2010.
This two year project, based at the University of Reading, aims to deepen our understanding of the conditions necessary for African language publishing for children to thrive in order to strengthen capacity and stimulate demand.
The project has two main components: a case study of African language publishing for children in South Africa; and the evaluation of the first pan-African project to produce materials for multilingual education.
